EDS 113 Types of Assessment

On Self-Assessment

(From Module 4)

Here is a great video I found online that best summate the  power of assessment, specifically on self-assessment. When students are not equipped with good foundation on self-assessment, the process can leads to poor results and might be more subjective.

As a future educator, I want to teach my students how to become good in assessing not just others but also their own performance without bias judgement.

Should ROTC be mandatory in the Philippines?

I want to share this online link to you and like me, I want you to think about it even for a little while. (http://cnnphilippines.com/news/2016/11/12/ROTC-mandatory-bill-K-12.html)

In the article, the Commission on Higher Education said to have been studying whether or not the ROTC should be revived for secondary level students.

In our recently concluded lesson on the topic of Assessment; proper alignment of principles are very debatable in many sides. I just want to take the ROTC subject as an example of the importance of instilling principles to students. This is not just a required physical training that every student should pass and survived to, but also a big concept of discipline. A person with a sense of nationalism will be better equipped in giving service to others when he/she is much aligned to the concept of serving his/her country– which I believe is not just body strength, but also mind power.

Will you Assess or will you Fail?

(Reflections from Module 2)

I am sharing this clip that I saw through YouTube with a very simple presentation of how a person might overlooked his/her own way of assessing a basic information. Go on, watch it and let me know how you did!

I’m guilty. I belonged to the 90% who failed. And while I was doing the test I became conscious about how I assessed myself while answering. I posted this video as a sample as to what I saw as a similarity in the educational system; speaking of, in general.

In the many years and era that came by, the means of assessment made by every institutions are dedicated and patterned to their own curriculum. But as students come and graduates go, how schools meet the achievement of thorough assessment, continues to be a continuous discovery with debatable conceptions.

One thing for sure should be the basic alphabet– we should treat the concept of education, like treating a person with his/her own possibilities. This will help those people in early discoveries of their own interests and talents, when it is being presented in a broad way unlike those of a narrow curriculum. A personalized education will give people more access to their real capability, a general sense of creativity and a sense of confidence.
